Congratulations to RCI Affiliate Dave Robinson who has been awarded the American Association of Geographers Lifetime Achievement Award!

The AAG citation reads: The 2017 AAG Life Achievement Honors is granted to Professor David Robinson from the Department of Geography at Rutgers University. Robinson is a multi-dimensional geographer who has achieved extraordinary success and impact in many domains simultaneously. As a researcher, he is a leading figure in the fields of climate science and climatology and one of the world's foremost experts on global snow cover. As New Jersey State Climatologist for the past 25 years, he is among the most publicly prominent geographers in the New York-New Jersey region, granting hundreds of media interviews each year while also overseeing a publicly accessible statewide climate and weather data network. As a long-serving department chair at Rutgers, Robinson fostered a culture of success that combined scholarly achievement with mentorship, collegiality and mutual respect among all members of the department. 

Rutgers-led New Jersey Climate Change Alliance (NJCCA) awarded 2016 Outstanding Floodplain Management Award

The Rutgers-led New Jersey Climate Change Alliance (NJCCA) was awarded the 2016 Outstanding Floodplain Management Award for "progressive collaborative work on climate change preparedness in New Jersey"by the New Jersey Association for Floodplain Management at its 12th annual conference in Atlantic City in October.  Facilitated by Jeanne Herb of the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, Rutgers University and Marjorie Kaplan, Associate Director of the Rutgers Climate Institute, the Alliance is a network of policymakers, public and private sector practitioners, academics and NGO and business leaders designed to build climate change preparedness capacity in New Jersey.  Former New Jersey Governors Tom Kean and Jim Florio are Honorary Co-Chairs and its Advisory Committee is Chaired by Michael Catania, Executive Director, Duke Farms and Kathleen Ellis, Vice President  and Chief Operating Officer of New Jersey Natural Gas. It has issued over 30 reports and developed tools, videos, resources and provided support in addressing climate change preparedness for New Jersey.
