RCI affiliate, Jennifer Francis is quoted in this ThinkProgress.org article on how the Clean Power Plan and the Paris Climate Agreement are both critical steps towards slowing down climate changeJennifer Francis explains that predictions that Arctic sea ice could become ice free this year or next is not likely; however, Francis noted there could be a new low this year and that a more likely time frame for the ocean to become ice free would be  2030-2050. In this article by NJTV News, RCI affiliate Alan Robock is quoted about the impact that El Niño will have on the upcoming hurricane season.

The Inter Press Service News Agency reports on the International Organization on Migration forecast of 200 million environmental migrants by 2050 citing climate change as adding an additional layer of complexity to this phenomenon.

Congratulations to RCI affiliate, David Robinson who is the principal investigator of an award totaling $50,000 for the “EMPG: New Jersey Weather Net Support Project,” which is being supported by the New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety.

The New Jersey Public Health Association and several other leading NJ public health organizations are working with Rutgers University and the New Jersey Climate Change Alliance on the public health effects of climate change. Read more in the Nation’s Health.
