There is increasing recognition of the effects of climate change on human health. Some of these health effects include changing infectious disease patterns which are both directly and indirectly associated with climate change and its resulting extreme weather events. In this discussion I will outline some of the human infectious diseases whose prevalence and geographic distribution have changed with a changing climate and some of the ways climate change has altered the microbial world. Recognizing the relationship between climate change and infectious diseases is important to both clinical practice and research.
