Advancing equity and environmental justice is a pervasive challenge in all aspects of climate adaptation, especially relocation. It pushes many practitioners into unfamiliar, challenging situations.

Join us for a discussion of how to advance equity and environmental justice in our engagement with communities as we move back from the Mid-Atlantic coast.

We’ll explore tools and approaches for engaging underserved communities; building and sustaining relationships and trust; and addressing concerns about community cohesion, mistrust in government, and limited experience with civic engagement. We’ll also share perspectives on helping people contend with “first-order” problems, while seeking their engagement in longer-term efforts to adapt to life on a rapidly changing coast.
