Tasso Azevedo, a Brazilian scientist and social entrepreneur working on the field of forests, sustainability and climate change, will present “Amazonia on Fire: Revealing Ecosystem Transformations and Threats with Science and Transparency” with a discussion and audience Q&A led by PEI Director Michael Celia, Princeton’s Theodora Shelton Pitney Professor of Environmental Studies and professor of civil and environmental engineering.

Azevedo will provide an update on land use and deforestation throughout Pan-Amazonia acquired through MapBiomas, a platform that produces annual land cover and land-use country maps through a multi-institutional collaboration.
