Webinar: Tribal SCAN Network: Web Portal for Climate Station Data and Decision Tools
Tuesday, 17 March 2020, 1:00
Tuesday, March 17, 2020. 1:00PM. Webinar: Tribal SCAN Network: Web Portal for Climate Station Data and Decision Tools. Mike Wilson, NRCS and Brian Belcher, NRCC. Sponsored by USDA Northeast Climate Hub and Natural Resources Conservation Service. More information here.
Participants will learn about a new website for SCAN and TSCAN climate station data. A demonstration of the website will include decision support tools for agriculture and STEM education.
The Tribal SCAN (Soil Climate Analysis Network) was initiated in 2017. This network of stations provides climate data (soil moisture and temperature, air temperature, precipitation, solar radiation, etc.) to tribal nations around the U.S. A website was developed to increase availability and utilization of these data. The website provides access to TSCAN and SCAN data including near real-time and past weather. Additionally, users can access agricultural decision support tools which use data collected from the stations. The website provides background information on each tool, as well as information on soils. The information will be useful to users who are managing land and to students for STEM education.
