Webinar: Mapping Climate Change Refugia for Vernal Pools
Wednesday, 01 May 2019, 12:00
Wednesday, May 1, 2019. 12:00PM. Webinar: Mapping Climate Change Refugia for Vernal Pools. Jennifer Cartwright and Evan Grant, USGS. Sponsored by Northeast Climate Adaptation Science Center. More information here.
This talk will provide a preliminary assessment of the resistance of particular vernal pools to changes in climate. Vernal pools are small, seasonal wetlands that provide critically important seasonal habitat for many amphibian species of conservation concern. Natural resource managers and scientists in the Northeast identified vernal pools as a priority ecosystem to study, and highlight climate change and disease as primary threats to key vernal pool ecosystems. The information is part of an ongoing NE CASC project Mapping Climate Change Resistant Vernal Pools in the Northeastern U.S.
