States are investing more in energy efficiency, even as the federal government loosens environmental rules. But which states are doing best and which ones are falling behind? In its annual 50-state scorecard, the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) will highlight the leaders, the most improved, and states with room for improvement, as well as dynamic trends, including innovative policies, and increased power savings.
The peer-reviewed scorecard ranks states based on the strength and performance of efficiency policies and programs. This year’s top 10, bottom six, and most improved include (in alphabetical order): California, Colorado, Connecticut, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, Washington State, West Virginia and Wyoming.
