Golf courses go green

Special varieties of turf grasses requiring lower inputs of fertilizers, insecticides, energy, and other resources are being developed at Rutgers under the direction of Dr. William Meyer of the Department of Plant Biology & Pathology. These new varieties could help the game of golf reduce its impact on climate change. Read more about it about it here.


HHS Climate Change and Health Webcast

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has released its HHS Climate Change and Health webcast. The webcast be accessed by clicking here. HHS assembled internationally-recognized experts from NOAA, CDC, and NIH to provide a national perspective and regional snapshots on climate change, key health findings from the National Climate Assessment, and best practices to build health resilience in communities.

Is Arctic warming altering the jet stream?


A study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences focuses on the ties between melting sea ice and rising temperatures in the Arctic, changing the jet stream and causing intense heat, rainfall, and other climate events.
