Education is the most fundamental responsibility of a university. As the State University of New Jersey, Rutgers has the additional responsibility of serving and educating the citizens of the state. Climate change is an issue that society will be facing for generations to come. Successfully adapting to and mitigating the effects of climate change therefore requires a well-informed society that understands the causes and consequences of climate change as well as the solutions.

The Education and Outreach group is working to improve climate education for learners of all ages, from elementary students through adults. Group members currently include scientists from a number of departments at the university as well as science education specialists.
